Heading E1F: A mining installation comprises. a main plough and an auxiliary plough mounted on. a conveyor for movement along it, the auxiliary plough having a pivoted hook 20 which is automatically engaged with a bolt 18 on the main plough when the latter is moved towards the auxiliary plough, and the conveyor having a wedge 24 for automatically disengaging the hook from the bolt after the main plough has moved the auxiliary plough forward and back over an end part of the conveyor to cut a machinery stall. The hook is spring-urged to its engaged position and has a spring loaded plate thereon to prevent its inadvertent disengagement, Figs. 5 and 6
