Process for the preparation of carbonylated compounds of general formula I, in which R1 represents an alkyl, optionally substituted by a phenyl radical, or alkenyl, optionally substituted by a phenyl or 2,6,6-trimethylcyclohexen-1-yl radical, radical or a 2,6-dimethyl-8-(2,6,6-trimethylcyclohexen-1-yl)- 4-arylsulphonyl-1,5,7-octatrienyl radical, R2 represents hydrogen, alkyl or alkenyl, or else R1 and R2 together form an alkylene or alkenylene radical, by oxidation of a boric ester of general formula II, in which R1 and R2 are defined as above, Ar represents an aromatic radical and R represents an alkyl radical, by means of an organic peracid or hydrogen peroxide in an alkaline medium. <IMAGE>
