PURPOSE:To obtain easily sinterable silicon carbide powder contg. B and/or Al and having a uniform and fine grain size by heating a specified precursor contg. Si, O, C and B and/or Al in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A liq. silicon compound such as ethyl silicate is uniformly mixed with a liq. org. compound having functional groups and forming carbon by heating such as phenol resin, a liq. boron compound such as H3BO3 and/or a liq. aluminum compound such as AlCl3 and a polymn. or cross-linking catalyst such as hydrochloric acid. They are brought into a polymn. or cross-linking reaction to manufacture a precursor contg. Si, O, C and B and/or Al, and sinterable silicon carbide powder contg. B and/or Al is obtd. without requiring grinding by heating the precursor in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. |
