PURPOSE:To avoid the occurrence of write and read errors and to reduce electric power consumption by detecting the temperature state in a head disk mechanism and inhibiting write and read in the inoperative state. CONSTITUTION:The output of a temperature sensor 1 in the head disk mechanism 5 is inputted to a sense amplifier 2, amplified and inputted to a write/read inhibiting circuit 3. It discriminates the output level of the sensor 1, decides the permission of write and read and informs a display part 4 and a host device of the output. When write and read are not permitted, a read/write instruction from the host device is interrupted in such a way that the device itself is read the moment the failure is displayed, and write is inhibited so as to inform the host device. As a result, write and read errors can be avoided. |
