PURPOSE:To easily place a separator in a cylindrical battery by inserting one end of a rectangular separator into the slit of a winding core and then rotating it in a cylindrical guide to wind the separator around the winding core, followed by inserting the separator wound around the winding core into a battery case in its axial direction and then rotating the winding core in a reverse direction. CONSTITUTION:While holding a rectangular separator 4 by a chuck 3, the end of the separator 4 is inserted into the slit 1a of a winding core 1 through the cut 2a of a guide 2. Next, after the separator 4 is wound around the winding core 1 by rotating it in the guide 2, the separator 4 and the winding core 1 are moved down and placed in a battery case 5. Next, the winding core 1 is rotated in a reverse direction in the battery case 5 to spread the separator 4 over the inner surface of the battery case 5 thereby releasing the end of the separator 4 from the slit 1a. After that, only the winding core 1 is lifted out from the battery case 5. |
