In order to improve the effectiveness of, and to facilitate, the regeneration of plants, in particular of trees, the invention proposes a process in which, by means of a metal lance, holes which are at spacings of approximately 0.2 to 0.6 m, preferably approximately 0.5 m, and of a depth of at least 0.5 m are driven into the ground in the region of the sucking roots around the tree with the aid of a percussion hammer apparatus, and these holes are filled with a fertiliser mixture which, as a result of a prior ground analysis of this ground area, is enriched with the respectively established lacking substances. For this purpose, use is made of a percussion-hammer-operated apparatus having a lance which is fitted on the front side thereof and has a rounded-off cross-section, e.g. rectangular or oval, but preferably round cross-sectional shape, and a length which is equal to or greater than the depth of the hole provided. In this arrangement, the lance has a preferably rounded-off lance head, is 20 to 50 mm in thickness and 0.6 to 1.5 m in length and has a round cross-section of approximately 20 to 50 mm.
