METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SHAPED ARTICLE OF ACETATE FIBRES

A method for the manufacture of a self form-retaining shaped article of mutually randomly joined acetate fibers comprising dissolving the surface layer of said acetate fibers with a bonding agent, intimately joining the dissolved surfaces of adjacent acetate fibers, and drying said acetate fibers as joined, said bonding agent applied to the surface layer of the acetate fibers being a liquid containing a lactam compound possessing a cyclicamide structure having 5 to 7 carbon atoms in the cyclic ring thereof. The product may be a sheet, cigarette filter or felt pen core.
