PURPOSE:To obtain a separator for a battery having long charge-discharge cycle life by folding a felt-like nonwoven fabric mainly comprising acid resistant thermoplastic synthetic resin fibers having a dimension capable of wrapping an electrode, and heat-bonding its facing right and left ends to form a bag. CONSTITUTION:A felt-like nonwoven fabric comprising, for example, 10wt% acrylic fiber for giving mechanical strength, 5wt% acrylic resin for binder, 70wt% polypropylene fine fiber which serves as acid resistant thermoplastic resin, and 15wt% glass fiber having a diameter of 3mum or less is used as separa tor material. The non-woven fabric separator 4 having a dimension capable of wrapping an electrode is fold in a U-shape, and facing right and left ends are bonded by ultrasonic welding to form a bag. By using a bag-shaped separa tor, short caused by protrusion of active material is prevented, and a sealed lead-acid battery having long life is obtained. |
