In this brake pressure control valve a stepped piston (6), which is forced into a limit position by a control spring (12) against the controlled pressure and can be moved out of this limit position by the uncontrolled pressure against the force of the control spring (12), is arranged in a valve housing (1). In the stepped piston (6) a valve (17) is arranged, the closing element (18) of which is held open in the limit position of the stepped piston (6) by a pin (23), which is forced in the opening direction of the valve (17) against a stop sleeve (22), fixed in the valve housing (1), by a preloaded compression spring (25) arranged in the valve housing (1). After the valve (17) has closed, the compression spring (25), due to the compressive force acting on the closing element (18), is compressible to a predeterminable extent and as a result produces a variation of the pressure control behaviour and a reduction of the hysteresis between the pressure build-up curve and the pressure reduction curve of the brake pressure control valve. <IMAGE>
