The invention relates to an endoscope, especially for operations through the ureter, with deflection of radiation by means of prisms or mirrors for the eyepiece of the periscope and with a passage in the endoscope shaft for introduction of a rigid surgical instrument. In order to achieve the object that the endoscope at the same time has the advantages of another endoscope with straight viewing into the periscope, the invention proposes that a joint be arranged in the radiation deflection, the joint comprising a gear connected with the prisms or mirrors for erecting of the image. This makes it unnecessary to procure and work with two different endoscopes. A single endoscope according to the invention is sufficient for different purposes, that is, viewing on the one hand, and operating on the other hand.
