MANUFACTURE OF SEALED BATTERY

PURPOSE:To improve the preservation characteristic of a sealed battery under a moist condition by applying a fluorine resin to at least one of the areas of the battery case and the sealing plate touching the insulating gasket. CONSTITUTION:Before assembling a sealed battery, a fluorine resin paint film 1a is formed on the inner peripheral surface of a battery case 1 inside which an insulating gasket is to be placed. The paint film 1a can be effectively formed either by applying a dispersion to the battery case 1 before it is sintered or by electrostatically applying a powder. A similar fluorine resin paint film 2a is also formed on the inner peripheral surface of a sealing plate 2 inside which the insulating gasket is to be placed. By the means mentioned above, it is possible to improve the liquid leakage resistance of the battery and to improve its preservation characteristic under a moist condition.
