PURPOSE:To facilitate the maintenance of plural developing units and to reduce the size of a device by providing a rotating body which holds freely attachably and detachably the developing units, a driving means thereof and a means for transmitting various sets of information in the developing units to the outside of the rotating body. CONSTITUTION:A rotary developing device has the rotating body 300 which is freely rotatably attached by a revolving shaft. The plural developing units 101, 102, 103, 104 are freely attachably and detachably attached to the body 300. The body 300 is driven via a driving gear 330 by a means 400 for driving the rotating body and is controlled in speed. The developing units disposed in the developing position are driven by driving means 430 and various sets of information in the developing units such as the concn. of the developer and residual toner quantity are detected by detecting means 450 and are transmitted to the outside of the rotating body. The driving force for sliding a shutter plate 142 of a toner supply means 140 is supplied by a supply means 470. The stop position of the rotating body is detected by detecting means 380 and is positioned by a positioning means 470. The device is thus made smaller in size. |
