<p>The simultaneous translation machine for the instantaneous transcription of one language into another, comprises two keyboards (3) (5) arranged back-to-back so that the persons speaking different languages may sit facing each other. Each keyboard has a readout or display panel (7) (9). The large number of keys on each board corresponds to words or phrases in the respective language. As each is operated, the equivalent word or phrase is displayed in the language of the operator and simultaneously in the other language on the other display. Each word selected is held in a read-only memory and transferred to a shift-register in coded form. The encoded equivalent in the other language is selected, decoded and displayed.</p> |
