STOPPER FOR GAS BLOWING TUNDISH

PURPOSE:To provide a stopper for a gas blowing tundish which consists of graphite-contg. carbon bond type refractories having the chemical compsn. approximately uniform over the entire part and is so constituted as to have the air permeability at the top end of the stopper within a specific value range. CONSTITUTION:The entire part at the top end of the stopper 1 for tundish is constituted of the thick-walled and porous graphite-contg. carbon bond type refractories 6 and the air permeability of the refractories 6 is made 500-5000(cm<2>)(cm)/(min)(cm<2>)(kg/cm<2>). An inert gas is blown through an air feed pipe 8 in the stage of pouring a molten steel to prevent the accumulation of deposits near the fitting faces A, A' between the part 3 and the tundish nozzle 4. The accumulation of the deposits between said top end and the nozzle is thus obviated and the stopper for gas blowing tundish having no possibility of erosion is obtd.
