The mechanism to clamp and cut the thread on a circular knitter, partic. a double cylinder circular knitter, has a number of neighbouring moving bars acting against a fixed blade. Each of the bars has an extension between the hooked end and the body of the component. This is displaced from the hooked end and ranges almost parallel to the hook. The projection surface is set back from the cutting edge of the blade by an amt. representing the cross section of the thread to be cut and clamped. The design allows threads of various gauges to be handled, and also allows simple modification of the knitter by exchanging very few parts without changing the whole unit.
|
