PURPOSE:To save the memory capacity as a whole by coding a data in a different coding form in storing plural different waveforms to a memory. CONSTITUTION:A waveform memory 4 uses a tone selection circuit 5 to store plural different waveforms corresponding to plural kinds of tones possible for selection and at least one of the waveforms is coded with a coding form from other waveforms. Tone selection information TC representing a selected tone is supplied to a waveform address input of the memory 4, a waveform of the music signal to be generated is selected from waveforms stored in the memory 4 and the selected waveform is read from the memory 4. A decoding means 6 converts the data of the read waveform into a prescribed common coding form according to the said coding form. |
