PURPOSE:To arrange so that a paper holding roller can be positioned reliably by controlling the setting of recording paper to an initial location prior to the positioning of a roller of a positioning device and later starting positioning of the roller. CONSTITUTION:First, a paper holding roller 6 separators from a platen 1 by the rotation of a rotary solenoid 8 and an actuating member 10 engages itself by the movement of a carriage 2 making the latter movable. Then the movement of the carriage 2 from the left edge to the right direction results in shifting of a left holding roller 6, a separator 7 and a right holding roller 6 to an initial setting location on the right edge. Next, the solenoid 8 is caused to rotate a shaft 5 to return the roller to a paper holding state. Then the carriage 2 is caused to move further to the extreme right edge location. After these procedures, the solenoid is again driven to move the holding roller 6 to an engagement location with the actuating member 10, and the holding rollers 6, 6 are positioned and set by the movement of the carriage 2 to the left and the repeated action of the solenoid 8. |
