A threshing machine for standing crops, particularly rice comprises a catcher casing (1) at the front of which a rotary thresher (2) cooperates with a counter-board (4). The beaters (5) on the thresher (2) comprise outwardly facing brushes (19) for pressing the heads (6) of cereal (16) against the counter-board and pulling the grains off of the heads (6), the brushes (19) comprising resilient bunches mounted on rigid backing members.
