摘要 PURPOSE:To perform uniform and stable discharge in any environment by allowing a heating means to serve as an exposing means. CONSTITUTION:Discharge is caused at the periphery of a discharging electrode 43 by applying an alternating voltage between an induction electrode 42 and the discharging electrode 43 to generate sufficient plus and minus ions. Then, a bias voltage is applied between the discharging electrode 43 and a conductor base 3-2 to extract plus or minus ions selectively, thereby charging electrostatically the surface of the photoconductor layer 3-1 of a photosensitive body 3 to a specific polarity and a desired value. At this time, a halogen lamp 4-2 as a heating and exposing means is supplied with an electric current from a heating and exposing power source 45 to emit light and heat a discharging member 4-1 from the reverse surface, thereby heating the periphery of the discharging electrode (dielectric 41, induction electrode 42, discharging electrode 43, discharging member 4-1 including them, and further atmosphere of the periphery of the discharging electrode surrounding the discharging electrode).
