PURPOSE:To obtain laminaripentaose useful as an intermediate for a sweetener, an inclusion agent, having antitumor activity, alleviating action on microbism, by treating a specific beta-1,3 glucosyl saccharide compound (partial hydrolyzate) with a specific beta-1,3 glucosidase. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium (e.g., Streptomyces matensis DIC-108) belonging to the genus Streptomyces, capable of hydrolyzing a beta-1,3 glucosyl saccharide compound (partial hydrolyzate) into laminaripentaose, is subjected to liquid culture at 5.0-8.0pH at 20-50 deg.C for 1-6 days aerobically, to give beta-1,3 glucosidase. 1-10wt% aqueous solution or suspension of a beta-1,3 glucosyl saccharide compound (partial hydrolyzate) is reacted with 50-1,000 units/l of 14-15mug/mg of the enzyme at 4-8.5pH at 30-70 deg.C for 30min-24hr. |
