<p>PURPOSE:To prevent a brake force from abruptly varying by providing a resistor connected in series between an armature circuit including an armature and a brake resistor and an armature power converter only at braking time. CONSTITUTION:The output of the secondary winding of a main transformer 2 is supplied through an armature power converter 3 to armature windings 61, 62 at powr drive time, and the output of the tertiary winding is supplied through a field power converter 9 to fields 121, 122. When a brake is applied at a high speed, thyristor 32 in the power converter 3 is set to a nonfired state, and brake resistors 81, 82 having high resistance values are connected in series with the windings 61, 62. When a railcar is decelerated, the the thyristor 32 is fired to control a current flowed to resistors 83 connected in series with armature circuits to equivalently reduce the brake resistance value.</p> |
