PURPOSE:To simplify the structure and stabilize the rotating torque by making the inner size of a tilt hinge bracket between both side plate sections slightly larger and elastically deforming the said both side plate sections inward with tightening members to set it. CONSTITUTION:A column bracket 9 is fixed to the lower end section of a lower jacket tube 3 of a tilt type sterring column. In addition, a tilt hinge bracket 10 is fixed to the car body side. In this case, the inner size L1 of a bracket 10 between both side plate sections 10b prior to assembly is made slightly larger than the preset size L2 when assembly is completed. The large-diameter section 11b and the small-diameter section 11c of stepped caulking pins 11, as tightening members, are inserted respectively into holes 9e, 10c provided on both side plate sections 9b, 10b of the brackets 9, 10. Then, the outside end section of the pin 11 is caulked so that a gap S between the step section 11d and the side plate section 10b is made zero. |
