Granulated ice for freeze drying installations is produced in equipment with a granulating device with two rollers in contact with each other. One is a unilaterally open hollow roller with connecting channels in the cylinder surface which is in the vacuum chamber. The granulating device is connected with a pipe to the storage reservoir containing precooled raw material.
