PURPOSE:To obtain branched cyclodextrin useful as a drug, etc., having improved solubility, in high yield, by treating a mixture of cyclodextrin and starch with a debranching enzyme and beta-amylase simultaneously. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of cyclodextrin and starch is treated simultaneously with a debranching enzyme (e.g., pullulanase, or isoamylase) and beta-amylase, to give the aimed branched cyclodextrin. When maltose is used instead of starch, the use of beta-amylase is not required. Or, a mixture of cyclodextrin and maltose is blended with ethyl alcohol, (iso)propyl alcohol, ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, and treated with pullulanase, so that branched cyclodextrin can be prepared more efficiently. |
