Sheathed foam pipe joints

Jointing system for sheathed, foam-lagged steel conduits is effected by butt welding or adhesion of exposed pipe ends, overlaying of the tapered and sheathed jacket limits with seal sheeting of e.g. butyl rubber or polyolefin film, lagging the joint zone with heat resistant polyurethane foam, and sealing the sprayed up foam with wound or heat shrunk PVC or polyolefin tape or tubing. Used for conveying (refrigerated) liquids, impermeable to moisture to prevent pipe corrosion or impregnating of lagging with loss of thermal insulation.
