A timing housing (1) for guiding valve tappets (4) which also possesses a split bearing (8) for carrying a camshaft (7), whose lower bearing portion (8') is linked with a projection (11) between the openings (2, 3) provided for guiding the tappets (4). In order to avoid the cutting-away of the bearing bore (9) in the lower bearing portion (8') in the event of closely adjacent openings (2, 3), with the consequence of a reduced bearing surface (12), the projection (11) ends, for a smaller wall thickness "s" in relation to the width "x" of the bearing (8), at such a distance "y" from the bearing surface (12) of the bearing bore (9) that a bearing wall (9'), which has a bearing surface (12), remains on both sides of the projection (11) and forms an integral part of the latter. |
