MULTIPLE OBSTACLES INDICATABLE WALK AID APPARATUS FOR BLIND MAN

PURPOSE:To enable the recognition of the direction and the position of multiple obstacles existing in a space ahead of a blind man, by emitting an ultrasonic wave to a space ahead according to a timing signal to receive a reflected wave with a pair of right and left ultrasonic receivers. CONSTITUTION:A counter 2 counts the output of a clock oscillator 1 to generate a timing signal (0) for starting transmission and timing signals (1), (2)... and (6) corresponding to a space area ahead. An ultrasonic wave oscillator 4 generates an ultrasonic wave to transmit an ultrasonic pulse to a space ahead from a transmitter 15 by a signal (0). Then, outputs of a pair of ultrasonic wave receives 14L and 14R arranged on the right and left of a transmitter 15 are compared with the outputs (0)-(6) of the counter 2 by gate blocks 7L and 7R each with an FF and are outputted to terminals (0)-(6) corresponding thereto when they coincide. The outputs of the frequency corresponding to the apace area ahead from a voice frequency transmitter block 18 are connected to switch blocks 10L and 10R to be closed with the gate blocks 7L and 7R and connected and controlled with right and left latch blocks 8L and 8R to drive right and left ear speakers 12L and 12R.
