PURPOSE:To make battery assembly in the dried atmosphere possible by coating the surface of a light metal with a polyethylene-polyethylene oxide mixture, then assembling a battery. CONSTITUTION:A lithium plate is formed by rolling at an atmosphere of argon A, and the surface of the lithium plate is coated with a gelled mixture of polyethylene-polyethylene oxide to form a coated layer 2. The rolled lithium plate is punched out, then pressed against the inner bottom of a negative can 3 through a negative current collector 5 so that noncoated surface is faced to the current collector to form a negative electrode 1. In the dried atmosphere B, nonaqueous electrolyte 6 is poured on the negative electrode 1, then a positive electrode 7 and a positive can 9 having a positive current collector are mounted to obtain a button type nonaqueous electrolyte battery. Since battery assembly in the dried atmosphere is made possible, productivity is increased. |
