<p>PURPOSE:To have accurate and quick judgement of the size of sheets to be transported by transport means with different speeds, by allowing No.1 and No.2 sensing means to sense the leading and trailing edges of the sheet concerned, and by judging the size on the basis of the counted value of pulses given during this period between two edges. CONSTITUTION:To feed sheets, a feed roller drive motor is operated in the regular direction to drive a pair of feed rollers 6, 6a for transport of each original text sheet from a sheet path Ia to IIa, and when the leading edge of the sheet is sensed by a sheet feed regist sensor S2 located on the sheet path IIa, a total belt drive motor is operated in the regular direction to send it onto a platen glass 12, and now an original text sheet size counter is started, which performs counting with clock input from a transport clock interrupter, to commence measurement of the size of the sheet. When the sheet is transported and its trailing edge passes a sheet feed sensor S1, the size counter is stopped, and the size is judged by a sizecksub on the basis of the data obtained. Also a correction shall be made about the installation span of the two sensors S2 and S1 to ensure that the real sheet size is obtained as the outcome of this procedure.</p> |
