Coupler for assembling metal bars in an electrical equipment test plant, comprising at least two complementary tubular half-shells 22, 23, 24 which can be fitted together around the ends of the bars to be coupled, these half-shells being held assembled together, before mounting, by articulation hinges 7, 8, and this coupler also including means for clamping the half-shells 22, 23, 24 onto the bars or tubes, constituted by captive bolts 14 premounted on the edge of one 22 of the half-shells. This coupler is easier and quicker to install than previous couplers. <IMAGE>
