PURPOSE:To enable an automatic focusing with a high accuracy, by adding an automatic focusing area searching function to the initial automatic focusing operation among those operation N times necessary for automatic focusing to minimize the blurring of an image. CONSTITUTION:In a automatic focusing system which comprises an image reproducing section, an image position deviation measuring section 6 and a parameter estimating section 4 while being provided with a synthetic aperture radar signal processing system to output a high quality image, an automatic focusing area searching preprocessing section composed of a total area image reproducing section 2, an automatic focusing area searching section 3 and the parameter estimating section 4 are placed preliminarily. Then, the total area of one scene to be reproduced is divided into N partial areas. With the initial automatic focusing operation, the image of the total area is reproduced to evaluate the automatic focusing accuracy for each of partial areas and one of the best partial area is selected. This is an automatic focusing area searching function. Thus, the automatic focusing operation following the second one is limited to a selected partial area. |
