In manufacture, heat is applied so that the fibres in the outer surface layers of the electrode are melted or softened to form thickenings whereby the reinforcement provided by the fibres is improved. The melted or softened fibres may be flattened by pressure applied by rolls. The active paste material may include lead powder, lead oxides, water, sulphuric acid and I organic material such as lignin or wood flour. |
