PURPOSE:To provide a remedy for periodontosis, exhibiting strong antibacterial activity to the bacterial strain belonging to Bacteroides genus causing the periodontosis, and inert to enteric bacteria, by using the cell of bacterial strain belonging to Streptococcus genus or Lactobacillus genus or its aqueous extract as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The cells of bacteria belonging to Streptococcus genus (e.g. Streptococcus faecium, Streptococcus equinus, etc.) or Lactobacillus genus (e.g. Lactobacillus fermentum, Lactobacillus salivarius, etc.) or its aqueous extract is used as an active component of the objective remedy for periodontosis. The agent has no inhibiting effect to the main lactobacillus (Streptococcus faecalis) and Escherichia coli in the intestines, but selectively and exclusively suppresses the bacteria causing the periodontosis. It can be used in the form of an oral composition for preventing the periodontosis, e.g. dentifrice, gargle, troche, etc., or in the form of food or drink. |
