<p>PURPOSE:To decrease the frequency of input/output operation and to reduce the load on a host computer by transferring plural external characters, selected among data sent from an input/output device at the same time, as one block corresponding to each terminal device to the host computer through a cluster device. CONSTITUTION:When a graphic character that a display device 3 and a printing device 4 do not have is generated, the external character processing mechanism 5 of the cluster device 2 is actuated for primary external character processing to search for a graphic character pattern that the cluster device has. When data to be displayed or printed include plural graphic character data (secondary external character) which are not found among corresponding graphic character patterns, they are put in one block by the batch processing mechanism 7 of the host computer 1 and sent to the host computer 1. The batch processing mechanism 8 of the host computer 1 receives plural blocks of secondary external characters and the external character processing mechanism 6 searches an external storage device for the corresponding graphic character pattern and transfers it to the cluster device.</p> |
