<p>1,224,405. Desuperheating steam by direct contact. KALLE - REGULATORER A.B. 6 Oct., 1969 [29 Nov., 1968], No. 49014/69. Heading F4K. [Also in Division F2] Valve apparatus for converting superheated high-pressure steam into steam at lower temperature and pressure by contact with water, consists of a steam valve housing 4 with inlet 5 and outlet 6, and containing a valve member 12, 15 co-operating with a seat 16. Fixed to the steam valve housing is a water valve housing 8 having a water inlet 24. A second valve member 22, 22<SP>1</SP> controls the supply of water to above the first valve member, whence it flows through passages 17 to the downstream side of the first valve member. An operating stem 13 of the steam valve extends concentrically through an operating stem 18 of the water valve. The water valve is loaded by spring 32 axially in the closing direction relative to the steam valve and is arranged to close just before the steam valve closes. As shown, the stem 13 is rigidly connected through plate 25, rod 26, 27 and lever. 40 to a piston and cylinder actuator 42. The Belleville spring stack 32 is interposed between plate 25 and a plate 30 fixed to the stem 18. The compression of the stack may be adjustable.</p> |
