PURPOSE:To improve the accelerating performance in an engine wherein an intake valve and an intake passage which are applied for high-load operation are provided for each cylinder by providing valves which open and closer related intake passage coincidently to action of an accelerating pedal and restraining said valves to be opened over a specified degree. CONSTITUTION:Each cylinder has two intake valves 3 and 4, and intake passages 9 and 10 which are communicated with the intake valves. The intake passage 10 is used for high-load operation. A slide valve 12 which opens and closes related intake valve is set as to be opened from the low-load intake passage 9 toward the high-load intake passage 10. The slide valve 12 is slided by an accelerating pedal 16 via a spring 15, a lever 14, a pinion 13 and a rack 12b, whereby adjusting cross section of each of the intake passages in accordance with operation of the accelerating pedal. When an engine runs at a low speed, a revolutional speed sensor 17 generates a signal and a controller 18 then projects the rod 19b of an actuator 19, whereby temporarily suspending the opening action of the slide valve 12 even if the accelerating pedal is stepped on. |
