PURPOSE:To measure the grain sizes of lump bodies which contact or overlap one another by calculating a density values at every center point of gravity calculated by processing an image of a lump body group which is obtained by an image pickup device. CONSTITUTION:The image of the lump body group which is obtained by a TV camera 1 is converted by a converter 2 into an image which has density digitized at respective points of a two-dimensional lattice. In this case, the image is so converted 4 with respect to density A1 at a shadow part where one grain contact or overlap others. Then, the density value at a point having the density value A1 in the image is replaced by a density converter 6 with a value corresponding to the distance from this point to the closest point having the density value A0. Lattice points at the corners of a pattern formed of lattice points having the largest density value in this image are extracted by a computing element 9 as pattern elements point and center points of gravity of plural pattern element points within a specific area are calculated by a computing element 11 to calculate a density value at every center position of gravity, thereby obtaining a value corresponding to the grain size of a lump body. |
