A steering-column switch for motor vehicles has a switching element which is supported in a housing such that it can pivot about an axis and can be moved via a switching lever between a null position and an operating position. The switching element carries a contact link which is supported in a sprung manner on the switching element, at right angles to the pivoting axis, and by means of which two stationary contacts, which are parallel to the pivoting axis, can be acted on. In order to achieve good contact making with little stress on the switching element and on the contact link, the two stationary contacts are arranged such that the spring force which acts on the contact link when changing over from the null position into the operating position is increased. Furthermore, a design is preferred in the case of which the two stationary contacts are essentially flat and are arranged at such an angle with respect to one another that the contact link is adjustable without being tilted in the pivoting plane.
