1. A process for the preparation of an olefinically unsaturated compound by hydrogenating the corresponding acetylenically unsaturated compound over a palladium catalyst, wherein a supported catalyst containing from 0.05 to 15% by weight of palladium and from 0.5 to 15% by weight of silver is used.
