<p>An intercostal tube (10) is made of relatively stiff but pliable plastic and has its inserting end tapered. In use the tapered end may be squeezed, to allow insertion of the tube between a patient's ribs, without the tube bulging significantly beyond the diameter of the tube. The opening for the tube may thus be smaller and reduce patient pain.</p> |
