A heading machine for underground operations, with a chassis and a pivotable shearing arm with shearing head, the shearing arm projecting beyond the chassis. The chassis is designed as a sledge frame with at least one skid projecting in the direction of travel. A level-controllable roll curve for a face conveyor with a face-side and a road-side conveying trough is mounted on the skid, the skid being attached to the sledge frame in an articulated manner, and a level-control device working on the roll curve. As a result the stability of the heading machine is considerably increased so that it can work with increased pressure-applying forces. <IMAGE>
