An annular base for supporting a can which is made of sheet metal or plastic, is filled with a liquid, especially beer and is connected to a tapping device, has an annular wall and a perforation in the said wall to permit penetration by part of the tapping device. Crosspieces project inwards from the annular wall, at a distance from its upper edge, and the can can be placed with its lower edge on the top of the said crosspieces. The inside diameter of the annular wall above the crosspieces is somewhat greater than the outside diameter of the lower edge of the can resting on the crosspieces, so that the annular wall encloses the edge of the can.
