PURPOSE:To enhance response, by providing a fine wire, which is obtained by electrochemically oxidizing and reducing the surface of a platinum fine wire and, immediately thereafter, electrodepositing a minute amount of a heavy metal such as tin thereon, as a hot wire under tension. CONSTITUTION:Immediately after electrochemical oxidation and reduction are applied to the surface of a platinum fine wire, a minte amount of tin 11 is electrodeposited to the treated surface of said wire to form a hot wire 1. In order to prepare this hot wire 1, for example, an aqueous solution containing about 10wt% of sulfuic acid is mixed with an aqueous solution containing several wt% of stannic chloride to prepare a solution mixture and the platinum fine wire with a diameter of about 200mum and an opposed electrode are immersed in said solution mixture and a current is supplied between both of them. Further, a reversible hydrogen electrode is separately provided as a reference electrode and the potential of the platinum fine wire is set to noble potential of 1.5-1.8V for first several sec with respect to the reference electrode to oxidize the surface of said fine wire. Thereafter, said potential is held to base potential of about -0.1V to perform the reductive removal of oxide and, during a time when the active state immediately thereafter is succeeded, the Sn ion in the electrolyte is electrodeposited on the surface of said fine wire to adhere and bond a Sn-atom thereto in a degree of a half-layer-one layer.
|
