PURPOSE:To obtain a highly sensitive thermal recording material having a thermal color-forming layer containing a terephthlate by using methyl 4- hydroxyphthalate or a specific phenolic compound as a developer. CONSTITUTION:Methyl 4-hydroxyphthalate or a phenolic compound of the general formula, where R is an alkylene group containing 1-5 ether bonds, to be used as a developer has a melting point of 100-120 deg.C, lower than the well- known conventional developers, e.g., bisphenol A, etc. Also, since the developer has good reactivity to leuco dyes, a higher sensitive thermal recording material than the conventional ones can be obtained even when these developers are used solely. The sensitizing activity of the thermal recording material can be greatly increased when the terephthalate is used combinationally with these developer. |
