PURPOSE:To obtain an excellent molding that is high in elastic coefficient, density and hardness, excellent in denseness, and free from cracks or the like, by molding a sample made up to a polyacrylonitrile and a metal salt by explosion compression. CONSTITUTION:A green powder prepared by adding 140pts.wt. copper sulfate to 36pts.wt. polyacrylonirile powder, and further adding 140pts.wt. sodium thiosulfate thereto with stirring is charged into a metal cylinder, then is preliminarily compressed by a piston press at 70MPa, and loaded into a metal vessel 5. The air in the vessel is evacuated by a vacuum pump via an exhaustion pipe 7, a prescribed electric current is passed to an electric detonator 1 to be exploded thereby compressing the sample, and the sample is taken out from the metal vessel to obtain the black integral molded item in the shape of a column that is almost free from cracks. The molding has a hardness of 33kg/mm<2> at the center measured by a Vickers' hardness tester, and a bending modulus 8.0GPa, and 7.5GPa in the normal direction. |
