PURPOSE:To obtain a thermosensitive transfer-type printer capable of improving print quality by providing a circuit to select a modus of reading character pattern memory at a printing pulse period. CONSTITUTION:If a printing pulse period is set at T/2(ms) by a clock generation circuit, it is possible to increase an applied voltage to some extent on account of the characteristic of a thermal head. If a voltage 1.1 times the normal one is applied, a Joule heat per one period of printing pulse 1 stands tat 1.21TE<2>/4R. If a character pattern 1 column is read from a character pattern memory by a reading selection circuit at two printing pulse periods, a dot composition after printing is double that of an initial character pattern in the column direction of the composition. Yet a single dot composing a character has more heat added compared to the conventional printer. In this way, the quantity of Houle heat per one printing pulse period decreases but that per one dot of character 1 increases, thus improving print quality. |
