PURPOSE:To prevent the short circuit caused by the projecting of an active material by folding double, to the size of covering an electrode, a sheet of felt type unwoven cloth principally composed of thermoplastic synthetic resin fiber, and welding both opposite sides in bag shape. CONSTITUTION:A separator (4) for closed type lead storage battery is formed by using felt type unwoven cloth containing the thermoplastic resin more than 50wt% of the whole, holding a thickness of 0.8-3mm under the pressure 20kg/dm<2>, and containing the fiber under 3mu in diameter more than 10wt% of the whole fiber as well as mixing together, acryl fiber, acryl resin, and thermoplastic polypropylene resin fiber. The cloth is folded double in U character type on the size of covering a positive electrode (2), and the opposite right and left sides (5) are used as bag shaped matters sealed by ultrasonic sealing. Thus, this process certainly prevents the short circuit caused by the projecting of the active material and the longevity of the battery can be obtained. |
