PURPOSE:To perform proper electrostatic charging and to reduce the breakage of a photosensitive body by applying a bias voltage which is higher than the dark-part potential of an electrostatic latent image and lower than the dielectric strength of a photosensitive body to a control grid between a corona discharging means and the photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:The control grid 3 is provided between the amorphous silicon photosensitive body and the corona discharging means 2 of a latent image forming means. Then, the grid 3 is applied with the bias voltage which is higher than the dark part potential of an electrostatic latent image and lower than the dielectric voltage of the photosensitive body by a voltage applying means 4. Consequently, the photosensitive body 1 is charged electrostatically, properly, and sufficiently and its breakage is reduced. |
