The particles are removed using an oriented magnetic field which is set up by a magnet placed outside of the container. At the bottom of the container there is an outlet pipe and valve through which the particles can be removed. The magnet and possibly the resultant magnetic field is movable along the axis of the tube (5) in order to facilitate the removal of the particles from the bottom of the container and along the tube.
