A casing (1) is provided in which is fitted a light source (2) which may be connected for operation from inside the vehicle. In the casing and in front of the light source is a screen (6) of light permeable material. On the screen is an opaque picture of a wild animal of the type found in the region where the vehicle is travelling. When the light source is switched on, the image of the animal appears to be dark, with a light surround in an appropriate colour, e.g. yellow. - In the current supply circuit (3) for the light source is a relay (5) which, after the source has been switched on, switches it off agian automatically after a specific period of time or after a certain distance has been travelled. As an alternative to the animal picture on the screen, text such as 'WILD ANIMALS' may be incorporated. The light source may be of the head lamp type or a light tube of e.g. rectangular shape.
